-> WORKSHOP by Mary McFarland “Your Writing Voice” beginning with “How to Craft a Scene” a part of her Red Girl Media series. Crafting a scene includes: 1) Basic elements of “craft” for scene’s design; 2) Supports story’s shape and overall design, its’ “unity” consistency of distinctive author’s “voice” and sustains tension that is compelling. 5 Actions . . how character(s) actions in the scene are, connected to the novel’s main showcase theme(s), denials that showcase theme(s), conflicting values between two main characters, and elements of craft required for the scene. To this end, a form was provided and reviewed that gave the details of how to complete each step of these goals by procedural steps including the “beat.”
-> Meeting was closed off with a review of member John Kiser’s “The Other Side of Life” including where the project is, what the project is about, and how the project actually involves a 2 part series both of which are 100% along.
